Fractals are defined paradoxically - variation in repetition. Like Russian dolls, seemingly identical forms can create different reactions and feelings despite replication .

At the heart of this project is a new piece by Alexandre Babel written for lovemusic. Babel's work as a percussionist has a huge influence on his compositional work. In "Damage Control" we hear multi-layered interlocking rhythmical gestures, using all five instruments as percussive objects alternating with more melodic gestures and sound bites. The other pieces of the programme unfold like fractals, alternating between these two elements.
