French new music collective, lovemusic, in residency at RCS working with the RCS Composers on four exciting new works !
Aiming to dismantle traditional hierarchies and create an inclusive environment, the Strasbourg-based collective, lovemusic, celebrates diversity in all its forms and brings new voices to new audiences. lovemusic performs without a conductor, creating both an intimate bond between the performers and also an active and exciting connection with the audience. Playing with lighting, video and scenography to create an immersive listening experience, lovemusic concerts are colourful, fun and innovative, drawing the audience into its diverse musical world. Collaborating and encouraging the next generation of composers is an important part of the collective’s work who have undertaken similar pedagogical projets at the Strasbourg and Reims conservatories, the Hochschule in Dresden and at the summer academy for the festival DME in Lisbon. Since 2022 five musicians from the collective have being working closely with RCS composers Calum Walker, Finn Patrick McLean, Ivan Varchenko and James Westoby on new works.
This performance will combine the premiere of four new works by these budding RCS composers as well as new works commissioned by lovemusic for their Heart of Light project which includes a concert at the HEAR in Strasbourg as well as concerts throughout the UK in Glasgow, Leeds, Huddersfield and London.
