Poet, playwright, musician, illustrator, Federico García Lorca devoted the thirty-eight years of his life to art. His most famous collection of poems - Romancero Gitano (1928) - was inspired by gypsy culture and won him fame in Spain and around the world. Five years later, he gave his famous lecture Juego y teoría del duende in Buenos Aires, attempting to define a scheme of artistic inspiration, based on the traditional gypsy concept of "Duende", that irresistible and bewitching charm that constitutes the soul of flamenco.
lovemusic offers an exploration of García Lorca's work that draws on this rich popular gypsy tradition - including his own Spanish Popular Songs as well as other works inspired by García Lorca, including a new piece by Michele Abondano specially written for this concert . The music will be punctuated by excerpts from texts and poems by García Lorca read by Yanis Bouferrache.
