The collective lovemusic from Strasbourg has garnered attention through skilfully staged concerts with thoughtfully curated programmes. In its debut in Donaueschingen, the ensemble brings together four younger compositional voices from England and the USA, all of whom draw inspiration from literature and visual arts in their new works. Composer and vocalist Laura Bowler not only performs her own new piece but also a composition by Hannah Kendall. Kendall continues to explore her fascination with Jean-Michel Basquiat's work Tuxedo, to which she has already dedicated an entire series of works. Meanwhile, David Bird is inspired by a short story from science fiction author William Gibson, which deals with the encounter with extraterrestrial intelligence. Whilst Kari Watson takes Bachelard’s Poetics of Space as their inspiration in a work written for the collective last year that explores a combination of reverberant spaces.
